TotalEnergies is excited about the opportunity to bring offshore wind energy to the southeastern United States with the Carolina Long Bay Project. Building on existing business assets in the region, TotalEnergies furthered their commitment to the Carolinas with a winning bid for offshore wind Lease OCS-A 0545 in May 2022.

The auction for the competitive lease sale in federal waters was administered by the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). Located 20 nautical miles from the coast, the lease covers a 120 square nautical miles area that will generate a capacity of more than 1 GW, enough to power the equivalent of over 300,000 homes. The project is expected to come online in the 2030 timeframe.

TotalEnergies’ proven experience in large-scale offshore projects will enable the safe and secure development of the Carolina Long Bay Project, making it a clean energy hub in the southeastern U.S. The project has and will continue to lead with a community-first mindset by partnering with local stakeholders and collaborating with communities to develop economic opportunities for the region.
