The world-class styrene-polystyrene integrated Carville site was established in 1968 with the first styrene production line. The second line of styrene started production in 1976. At Carville, TotalEnergies Petrochemicals & Refining USA, Inc. operates a styrene plant (monomer) in a 50% joint-venture with SABIC and a polystyrene unit (polymer), which is wholly-owned by TotalEnergies Petrochemicals & Refining USA, Inc. This polystyrene unit is one of the largest in the world.
