Our Approach

When TotalEnergies develops a project in the U.S., we commit to building a long-term relationship with the community. From our early due diligence with environmental evaluations, to obtaining local permits and utility agreements, we strive to take the necessary steps to develop solar projects with integrity.

When choosing TotalEnergies, you can be confident in our decades of experience and the pride we take in every solar project development.

Benefiting you, Benefiting the Community

With solar farms having a life span of over 30 years, it is important for us that we are good stewards of the land and develop projects that help benefit the surrounding community.

Clean, Local Energy

Leasing your land for solar is a great way to in help the country transition to a cleaner, renewable economy. Solar projects do not generate air or water emissions, produce hazardous waste, or deplete natural resources.

Strengthen Local Economies

Solar development strengthens rural economies by creating local jobs, increasing economic development opportunities that positively impact local businesses, and contributes local tax revenues.

Predictable, Passive Income

We offer highly competitive rates that allow for predictable income and long-term planning. Landowners do not have to worry about renegotiating a land lease or finding a new tenant farmer every few years.

Securing Land Legacy

Landowners and their families are provided with a steady, reliable source of revenue throughout the project’s life. This allows the land to stay within the family for generations.

Preserving the Land and Local Wildlife

We ensure our solar farms have a minimal impact on the land and natural environment. We also use pollinator-friendly plants and native grasses in our site restoration plants.

Community Commitment

We always look for ways to engage with the communities involved in our solar projects. We are committed to making a positive impact beyond generating renewable energy.

We've had an outstanding experience collaborating with TotalEnergies on our solar development project. TotalEnergies sets the standard for excellence in the industry, demonstrating remarkable professionalism, clear communication, and unmatched expertise. Their unwavering dedication to both reducing environmental impact and delivering renewable energy solutions is truly exceptional.

Interested in Leasing your Land?

Initial Conversation

We discuss your general interest in a solar project, ownership status, easements, title restrictions, and other relevant matters. If you are interested in the project, we will discuss lease rates and other primary lease terms (length of the lease, equipment removal, property taxes, construction activities, etc.). Please submit this contact form to initiate a conversation.

Site Visit and Negotiate Terms

TotalEnergies will arrange a site visit to meet with landowners and view the property. Then, we will further explain the project lifecycle and answer any additional questions. Finally, the landowner and TotalEnergies will agree on key deal terms, including option and lease rates.

Execute Lease or Purchase Option

The landowner and TotalEnergies will review all final terms and then execute the lease or purchase option.

Project Lifecycle

4-6 years

  • Landowners continue the current use of the property.
  • TotalEnergies conducts environmental studies, completes the interconnection process, obtains regulatory approvals, and negotiates a power purchase agreement (PPA), among other development activities.
  • Option Term payment applies.

1-2 years

  • After the Option Term, we will enter the project construction phase. TotalEnergies requires full use of the land to begin the construction of the solar facility.
  • After equipment has been installed, any disturbed property will be restored and seeded with a low growing seed mix.
  • Construction Term payment applies.

25-40 years

  • Once construction is complete, the solar facility will be brought online and produce clean, renewable energy for the next 25-40 years.
  • A small on-site staff will maintain a presence at the project for security and maintenance.
  • Lease Term payment applies.

1-2 years

  • At the end of the project’s life, solar equipment will be removed, recycled, and salvaged for additional value. A bond is issued, and a decommissioning plan is in place to ensure the project site is clean, safe, and able to return to previous land use.
