TotalEnergies closes the acquisition of 1.5 GW of flexible power generation to meet the energy demand of Texas residents

Meeting Demand and Guaranteeing Grid Stability in Texas

TotalEnergies is proud to announce the closing of a deal to acquire three gas-fired power plants in Texas, boosting our Integrated Power footprint in the Lone Star State.

These flexible assets, located close to Dallas and Houston, will provide a combined 1.5 GW capacity to the fast-growing energy demand of these cities, and will complement our renewables production.

Flexible Power is part of TotalEnergies’ multi-energy strategy to bring notably clean firm power to our customers.

This means that TotalEnergies is present at every step of the electricity value chain:

  • Starting with renewable power with solar and wind
  • Combined with flexible power from our gas-fired power plants and battery storage to complement the intermittency of renewables
  • And then trading and sale to our customers

TotalEnergies is committed to deliver energy that is more reliable and sustainable to the 27 million ERCOT customers.
