The Leading Exporter of U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
TotalEnergies is the leading exporter of U.S. LNG since 2021

Expanding U.S. LNG and Natural Gas is Key to the Energy Transition
TotalEnergies has been the leading exporter of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) since 2021, shipping more than 10 million tons annually to the rest of the world. TotalEnergies brings its decades-long worldwide expertise in the LNG value chain - from production and processing to trading and shipping – to the U.S. market where the Company has invested in a number of major facilities along the Gulf Coast and Pacific Ocean.
TotalEnergies holds a 16.6% interest in Cameron LNG in Louisiana, exporting more than 4 million tons per annum (Mtpa), and offtakes LNG from major terminals in the United States, among them, Sabine Pass LNG, Freeport LNG, and Corpus Christi LNG.
In July 2025, Cameron LNG the marked successful production and export of its 1,000th cargo LNG, a significant milestone achieved just six years after its first commissioning cargo departed the facility in May 31, 2019.
Stategic Investments Boosting U.S. Export Capacity
In Baja California, TotalEnergies has a 16.6% stake in the 3.0 Mtpa Energia Costa Azul LNG project. Once completed, TotalEnergies will be able to ship out 1.7 Mtpa from this site, without having to go through the Panama Canal to reach Asian market, which will reduce shipping costs and the carbon footprint.
In 2023, TotalEnergies announced that it is joining forces with GIP and NextDecade to participate in the Rio Grande LNG natural gas liquefaction plant in Texas, raising our Company’s estimated total U.S. LNG export capacity to more than 15 Mtpa by 2030.

Lowering Scope 1 + 2 Emissions
As part of our commitment to lower our Scope 1+ 2 emissions, we work for cleaner energy by promoting LNG in maritime and ground transportation.
For example, we use tankers with engines that are partly fueled by the LNG they transport and we are developing LNG marine fuels and natural gas fuel for vehicles.
